LEAG and Rock Tech launch cooperation for green electricity

Rock Tech and LEAG have now initiated a cooperation with a letter of intent. LEAG could supply climate-neutral electricity from wind and solar power for Rock Tech’s production, which could be available around the clock in the future thanks to a smart combination with storage and the „GigawattFactory“ hydrogen production facility. Rock Tech would thus take a further step towards the planned climate neutrality of its production.

With the planned cooperation, both sides are sending a clear signal for further investment and long-term collaboration. In addition to issues relating to green electricity and heat supply, the agenda also includes cooperation in securing skilled workers, options for disposal and, in the long term, the supply of hydrogen.

In concrete terms, the first step will be to examine the installation of photovoltaic systems for green electricity supply on the roof areas of Rock Tech’s converter in Guben. In the medium term, the lithium refinery could even receive hydrogen from LEAG’s „GigawattFactory“. In a second step, the construction of an electrolyzer at the Guben site is conceivable. The two companies also want to work together to secure skilled workers in various professions such as laboratory technicians, chemical technicians, welders and IT technicians.
